A Review of Selected North Sea Blocks
31 December 2013

According to the latest information from the DECC, the 28th Licensing Round for the UKCS is anticipated to commence in January 2014. Applications would be due three months later; in April 2014. Since the last round finished in 2012 a number of relinquishments have taken place, which adds considerably to the stock of open acreage. The UKCS has a rich diversity of prospective plays and undeveloped discoveries on open acreage that will be available for bidding. In this article, the author has selected nine groups of blocks within the northern, central and southern North Sea provinces which appear to be amongst the most prospective. These reviews are compiled from published information, including final relinquishment reports released recently by DECC.
