2013 Update
1 September 2013

During 2004 and 2005, Exploration Geosciences (UK) Ltd prepared a detailed evaluation of the Triassic play within the high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) province of the UK Central Graben as a DECC sponsored EUPP study (Exploration of Unproven Plays). Led by Chevron, with partners Gaz de France, CNR, Ruhrgas, RWE DEA and BG, this project sought to determine the Triassic prospectivity of the HPHT area. The project included detailed mapping from regional 3D seismic datasets and a full analysis of Triassic stratigraphy and of reservoir quality and distribution, incorporating data from all Well drilled to the Triassic within and adjacent to the HPHT area. In this article we review the stratigraphy, facies and reservoir quality of the Triassic in this province, incorporating data from the EUPP study, updated with public domain details of later discoveries, most significantly Jasmine (block 30/6) and recent developments in our understanding of this reservoir system.
