Exploration well, deviated slightly to NW to test possible NE extension of Lancaster basement (Lewisian) oil discovery below separate structural culmination (Halifax prospect) on Rona Ridge. Oil shows seen in Upper Jurassic, Devonian (?) and basement in well 205/23-2 on structure. Main hole junked and re-spudded and drilled fractured basement from 2,264–6,057 ft TVDSS over unfractured reservoir to TD. Oil saturation from logs/shows throughout basement reservoir section but no samples recovered from MDT or DST, probably due to reservoir damage. Indicates minimum 3,793 ft hydrocarbon column. Well suspended for possible re-entry to deepen and/or conduct further testing.
