Exploration well on the Fettercairn prospect, a down-thrown fault block on the eastern flank of the Alwyn-Brent-Statfjord Ridge with gas condensate prognosed in the Upper Brent at 12,720 ft. The well was temporarily suspended at the 20" casing point to drill a relief well at Elgin and, on re-entry was deviated SE with top Brent encountered at 13,154 ft (13,021ft TVDSS), 301 ft deep to prognosis. Residual gas was indicated from logs in Lower Tarbert and Ness sandstones, with the Upper Tarbert probably faulted out.
